Recycled shapes

I've was trolling for new shapes
for next season's jewelry designs
and came across these old jewels.
Some of them I made in the 80's
and 90's. So here they are recycled
rearranged, recolored, and perhaps
reuseable!

Shape shifting with Shadows

Since I began blogging with you and taking lots of
photos, I have been fascinated by shadows.  How
ephemeral they are, how the light dances across
surfaces, ebbing and flowing. This morning when
the sky was bright, I came upon this shadow shape
I found beautiful.  And I know from experience
that when you move from a spot to go find your
camera, it can be gone in a twinkling, or morph
completely as the sun rises, the breeze blows, a
cloud passes....

So I stood in one place and followed the shadow
shape as it shifted.  The sun rose, the shadow
slipped down the wall slowly, until it was gone.

Another experiment!  I realized that sometimes I just need to
stay in place, not knowing, to really notice what is happening.

Shapes/ Adding and Subtracting

This morning I was playing around with varying
shapes.  First I drew them, then I cut out shapes
around them, Then I recolored and put back
most of the cuttings.  What I noticed is that
despite some concern about the results....
I really enjoy experimenting!

Shape Arrangement

What object isn't a shape, or many?
I really enjoy finding shapes
everywhere and
organizing
them.

Same spring pond, different focus

It's so interesting to see what happens when
photographing water.  In the bottom photo
a couple of monkey heads seem to have floated
 into the pond.

Stepping out

Step 1: noticing that the tree limbs glistened
on the moist branches this morning.
Step 2:  stepping out the door.
Step 3: following the steps required to point and
shoot the camera.
Noticing:  how actions I take require taking steps!

Other steps

Other steps to take.
What would I find beyond these doors?

Steps and Shadows

I went to Hudson to look for shapes
and instead became fascinated
with the all the staircases
 in the afternoon
  sun.

Steps up

Step 1: Last week, when we were still
 nesting,
I was at a loss about how to proceed,
so I went to the park with my camera

Step 2: I found these locust tree pods that
were beautifully curled and I filled my pockets.

Step 3:  The next week, after about a minute of effort, there was a bird, and here is the photo!
I love it when that happens!

Seed steps

Day steps and night steps

Steps to the recycle bin.

I decided to deconstruct last week's drawing class eye tower,
and photograph the steps.
So the tower, with the tape off, folded, became rickety steps.
Cut, became a spiky forest,  folded and tucked, a messy bouquet,
squished, a corsage gone wild, and finally, small enough to fit in the bin.
